Dipsea Gardens, Stinson Beach Wedding: Brandee + James

Dipsea Gardens Stinson Beach Wedding

Believe it or not, there are not many places in the San Francisco Bay Area where you can get married while overlooking the ocean so James & Brandee’s wedding is extra special because they found a way to make it happen. They were married at Dipsea Gardens which is located on a bluff above Stinson Beach. They even managed to order up some rare hot summer weather for their Labor Day weekend wedding as well.

So what kind of wedding do you get when you have a beautiful couple, their beautiful dogs, a stunning venue, and delightful wedding guests? A one-hell-of-a-party-kind-of-wedding, of course! (As evidenced by the dancing photos at the end.) But, I’m getting ahead of myself. The day started off with a first look, followed by a tea ceremony. They exchanged touching, tear-jerking vows during the ceremony. Everyone was rapt in attention and awed by the scenery of the glittering waters down below. During the speeches it was so much fun to hear James & Brandee’s friends and family sum up different parts of their relationship, starting in high school!

One of my favorite moments was when James got just a little cheeky during the cake cutting dabbed frosting on Brandee’s nose. There is a photo where they are laughing right after it happened. Brandee is moving so quickly she is a little blurry and I just love the way it adds to the feeling of the moment they are sharing.

Many congrats to these lovebirds! Be sure to check out a list of their talented vendors at the end.

As Natalie opened the door to do a first look with her groom, her two besties walked up and screamed with excitement when they saw their gorgeous friend. The groom listened to all of the commotion going on behind him while he patiently waited for his turn to see his beautiful bride next for their first look.

My guide for couples planning a wedding at San Francisco City Hall has been fully updated for 2026!

A heads up if you're planning a civil ceremony: at some point last year City Hall changed when they release these appointments, which was confusing for couples. But I lay it all out on the blog so you can be prepared.

Here’s what you’ll find in this guide:

- The different types of ceremonies SF city hall offers and what to expect
- Advice on when to schedule your ceremony (day of the week and time of day)
- Questions for you to consider to help you plan a whole wedding day that suits you well
- Tips on transportation to and from city hall
- Recommendations for where to stay for out-of-town couples

Enjoy!
Three things to know about getting married at San Francisco City Hall

• You can pick up a marriage license from any county in California. Just make sure it is within 90 days of your date
• The best light and my favorite portrait location is on the 4th-floor North balcony
• San Francisco City Hall’s best kept secret: Did you know you can get married at SF City Hall without making a wedding appointment? You just need to hire your private officiant, and I can help you plan a wedding like this.
