Let me tell you right now, you’re in for a special photo shoot with Kara & Matt’s epic hike adventure engagement session in the Marin Headlands, near San Francisco, California. Or at least I was certainly in for a treat this day. I would gladly do a photo hike adventure every week after this experience! In the photo above you can just make out the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance and the city behind it. That’s how close we were to the city, but yet it felt like a world away.
We revisited the place where Matt proposed to Kara, on an abandoned military outpost on a peak overlooking the SF Bay. The remaining structures are falling apart and covered in graffiti which offers a fun contrast to the stunning natural vistas we passed during the hike up. When they went together the day that Matt proposed, the area was blanketed in fog so we were all keeping our fingers crossed for clear skies. Luckily sunny weather was definitely delivered for our photo session. Though with the sun we had a lot of wind to contend with as well, which made for some funky hair pics at times too.
I loved spending the afternoon with Kara & Matt. They are sweet and fun with one another and it was special to witness their connection. For a fun behind the scenes highlight- Kara & Matt were carrying this really heavy backpack with them. I couldn’t figure out why it was so heavy and then we reached the top of the peak, tired and thirsty and Matt whipped out three beers for us. It couldn’t have been more perfect! And then that pack was easier to manage on the way down. 😉
I had so much fun and now there’s only one downside– that I have to wait an entire year before I get to photograph them again for their wedding day! Can’t wait for it though!
